One of the most famous conversion vans of all time is the Scooby Doo “Mystery Machine.” However, Scooby, Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy aren’t the only celebrities known to cruise around in style. Other famous personalities have also adopted the idea of turning conversion vans into luxury travel vehicles.
Take celebs for instance:
Shaquille O’Neal
Shaq equipped his 2001 Chevrolet G1500 with air-ride suspension, a Superman grill logo and 20-inch wheels, an X-Box system, an AV system with a built-in 100 x 100 HD projection on a 100-1000-inch video screen and a DVD player. The luxurious seating features a leather interior by Louis Vuitton. “Man of Steel” emblems bedeck the entire vehicle.
Guy Ritchie
English filmmaker Guy Ritchie employed Welsh company Touch of Class to customize his luxury white Mercedes Sprinter that features an English country tweed ceiling and walls decorated with fine brass fittings. Two massage reclining chairs sit on the van’s polished walnut floors. Privacy rules in this Sprinter with blackened windows and a walnut partition between the driver and passengers.
Not surprisingly, Ritchie has equipped his van with top-of-the-line entertainment features: a multimedia surround-sound system enclosed in a glass cupboard and 19-inch plasma TV – from which he can connect to his laptop and work directly from the van.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z
Costing more than $1 million, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Mercedes Sprinter conversion van features hand-stitched Italian seating and a full bath with shower, toilet and sink. The vehicle’s $150,000 sound system includes Wi-Fi and DirecTV access.
Snoop Dogg
Designed by West Coast Customs, Snoop Dogg’s converted Sprinter van is a virtual mobile recording studio featuring Mackie recording gear and a video lounge. Dynamat acoustical sound-dampening material lines the vehicle’s interior.
Snoop’s mobile recording studio features the Tracktion 3 Ultimate Bundle software, which includes mixing and mastering capabilities, virtual instruments and sample media libraries. A Sony Vaio SZ491 dual-core laptop with 200 GB hard drive runs the music production software.
The video lounge section of Snoop’s van features a 46-inch Sony flat-panel TV that also serves to partition the recording studio from the lounge. The TV connects to a Blu-Ray DVD player, PlayStation 3 console and the studio’s laptop and provides the ultimate in surround-sound entertainment.
With all of these features, Snoop’s conversion van offers him two distinct audio systems: One for recording and one for relaxing.
Customized Conversion Van Designers
Increased traffic congestion in urban centers has prompted wealthy CEOs and celebrities to create virtual offices on wheels to make use of time that might be lost while stuck in traffic. Luxury conversion vans like the Mercedes Sprinter can accommodate seven passengers. Customized vans offer such luxurious features as leather seating, ornate wood inlays, Wi-Fi, multimedia systems that include live TV with on-demand video and even printers for good measure.
There’s no limit to what you can do with a luxury conversion van!
